PDF Tools
XLS to PDF
Convert a legacy Excel .xls file to PDF using LibreOffice Calc. Cell data, column widths, and basic formatting are preserved. File is processed on a secure server and never stored.
Frequently asked questions
- Does my file get uploaded?
- Yes. Converting a .xls file to PDF uses LibreOffice Calc running on our secure server. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, converted, and immediately deleted — never stored permanently.
- What is the difference between .xls and .xlsx?
- .xls is the legacy Excel format used by Microsoft Excel 97 through Excel 2003. .xlsx is the modern Open XML format introduced in Excel 2007. Both are supported by LibreOffice, but .xlsx generally converts with higher fidelity. If you can save as .xlsx from your application, use the Excel to PDF tool instead.
- Will formulas be visible in the PDF?
- Formulas are evaluated and their results appear in the PDF — not the formula text. The PDF contains the calculated values, just as they appear when you open the file in Excel or LibreOffice Calc.
- Are pivot tables and charts supported?
- LibreOffice Calc renders pivot tables as static data tables and basic chart types as static images. Complex Excel-specific chart styles may look different from the original. The data is present; the visual style may differ.
