Terms of Service

What this service is

Filum is a file conversion platform. You submit a file, we convert it to the format you choose, and you download the result. The converted file is deleted from our servers within 60 minutes. These terms govern your use of this service.

By using Filum, you agree to these terms. If you are using Filum on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind the organization to these terms.

Your files

You retain ownership of all files you upload. Uploading a file to Filum does not transfer any rights to us. You grant us a limited license to process the file for the purpose of completing the conversion you requested. This license expires when the file is deleted.

You are responsible for having the rights to upload and convert the files you submit. Do not upload files you do not own or do not have permission to convert.

Acceptable use

You may not use Filum to:

• Upload files containing child sexual abuse material or any illegal content.
• Convert files for the purpose of circumventing copyright protection or DRM systems.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, attack, or degrade the security or performance of the service.
• Use automated tools to submit files at rates that significantly exceed normal human usage on the free tier without a paid API plan.
• Upload malware, ransomware, or files designed to harm the systems of other users.

We reserve the right to suspend access to accounts or IP addresses that violate these terms. We will not refund subscription fees for accounts terminated due to acceptable use violations.

Free tier

The free tier allows ten conversions per day per IP address. Files up to 25 MB are supported. No account is required. The free tier includes advertising where you have accepted advertising cookies.

Free tier limits are enforced at the infrastructure level. We do not provide exceptions to free tier limits. If you require higher limits, the Pro plan is available.

Pro and Teams subscriptions

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or annually. Annual subscriptions are paid in full at the start of each billing period. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you retain access to Pro features until that date.

Teams subscriptions are billed per seat. Adding seats to a Teams subscription is prorated to the next billing date. Removing seats takes effect at the next billing period.

We do not offer refunds on subscription fees except where required by applicable law. If you believe you were charged incorrectly, contact us at hello@filum.se within 30 days of the charge.

Service availability

We target 99.9% uptime. Planned maintenance is scheduled during off-peak hours and announced on the status page at least 24 hours in advance. Unplanned outages are reported on the status page as soon as they are confirmed.

Filum is provided as-is. We do not guarantee that the service will be available at any particular time or that conversions will produce any specific output quality. The quality score displayed after each conversion is an objective measurement of the output but is not a guarantee of fitness for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Filum is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of business, or loss of profits, arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of Filum is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. For free-tier users, our total liability is zero.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Filum is incorporated, without regard to conflict of law provisions. Disputes that cannot be resolved by direct communication will be submitted to binding arbitration in that jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We will notify users with accounts of material changes to these terms by email, with at least 30 days notice before the changes take effect. Continuing to use the service after the effective date of changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. If you do not agree to the changes, cancel your subscription before the effective date.
