Frequently asked questions
- Does my file get uploaded?
- Yes. Converting RTF to PDF uses LibreOffice running on our secure server. Your file is sent over an encrypted connection, converted, and immediately deleted — never stored permanently.
- Will my formatting be preserved?
- Most standard RTF formatting — bold, italic, underline, headings, tables, and basic paragraph styles — is preserved. Embedded OLE objects, field codes, and some advanced formatting elements may not render. LibreOffice interprets RTF faithfully but is a separate engine from Microsoft Word.
- Where do RTF files come from?
- RTF is produced by WordPad, older versions of Microsoft Word, many legal document systems, email clients, and word processors across different operating systems. It is a broadly compatible format for exchanging formatted text.
- How long does conversion take?
- Most RTF files convert in under 10 seconds. Complex documents with many formatting elements may take up to 20 seconds.
