Compress Image

Make a JPG, PNG, or WebP image smaller without uploading it anywhere — the compression runs in your browser. Real before/after sizes shown, and the output is never larger than your original. No account, no email.

Frequently asked questions

Does my image get uploaded?
No. The compression codecs run inside your browser on your own device — the image never leaves your computer and never reaches a server.
How much smaller will my image get?
It depends on the source. A typical high-quality camera JPG shrinks by roughly two thirds at the Balanced setting — measured on a real photograph. An image that was already optimized for the web may not shrink at all; in that case you get your original back unchanged, never a larger file.
Does compressing reduce quality?
For JPG and WebP, yes, slightly — that is what makes the file smaller. The three settings let you choose the tradeoff, and Balanced is tuned to be visually indistinguishable for most photos. PNG is different: it is optimized losslessly, so every pixel stays identical.
What happens to the photo's EXIF data?
For JPG and WebP the orientation is baked into the pixels so the image never appears rotated, and the rest of the EXIF block (which can include location data) is not carried into the compressed copy. Lossless PNG optimization does not change metadata handling.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, and WebP. GIF and SVG are not supported yet — the tool tells you immediately if you drop one instead of failing silently.
